Rakiura Museum / Te Puka o Te Waka

A visit to Stewart Island isn't complete without a browse through the Rakiura Museum, centrally located at 11 Main Road.

Our museum houses an extensive collection of items and photographs of Stewart Island's early history. Current displays showcase early Maori settlement; muttonbirding; whaling; fishing; timber milling; mining; boat building; transport; schools and churches.
